About Excideuil
We are an established bed and breakfast having renovated our 18th century house in 2004 to welcome our guests to the Dordogne. We are situated in a town called Excideuil, which is the chief town of 14 communes. The town is steeped in history going back to the 13th century, with its gothic church and attractive 16th, 17th and 18th century houses.

The town has a castle, which is set high on a rocky promontory, and successfully repelled Richard the Lionheart on three different occasions - although the main castle is not open to the public it can be admired from the outside and there is a public area in the courtyard. Every year an art exhibition runs from May to October,
featuring the work of local artists.
Walks with English speaking guides around the town, during
July and August.

Thursday is market day, when the village leaps to life with the busiest market in the region when people come from miles around to trade and shop every week, and if markets are your thing, you can find one every day of the week in the
area. .
